Abstract: A model for analyzing the economic performance resulted by privatizing different industries is presented in this paper. It is shown that there do exist possibilities of output decrease in the process of privatization in transition economies, but this phenomenon can be avoided by commencing the privatization program in small-sized industries. Furthermore, It is also shown that privatizing a medium-sized industry, which has a large elasticity of production with respect to variable inputs, may be optimal.
